How our products are processed?

The cut logs are baked in a steam oven for 82 hours. The juice of walnut trees produce bacteria. The oven process is done to prevent the bacteria developing into wood worms. Pressurized steam is applied to the wood for 82 hours to help the logs adjust to the outdoor setting and climate conditions.

This steaming process helps the wood adapt to any environment and minimizes concave and convex shifting. After the completion of one year the wood is placed in a drying oven and remains here for about 40-50 days.

The important thing here is for the wood to be dried under 8% moisture. The wood is adapted to the worldwide accepted walnut standard of under 8% moisture before being taken out of the ovens and left in a closed area for one month to increase resilience against external conditions. After this process the dry wood is ready to be crafted.

The wood is corrected through calibration at the end of these processes. After calibration the wood is sanded and polished. The sanding is done with 40, 80, 120, 220 and 320 sand. In the polishing process the wood is polished according to request with monocoat and hemel that contain natural oils and essence of flaxseed. Silk mat can be used in addition to hemel and monocoat.

The types of wood used

Turkey is a country where some of the best quality walnut grows. The walnuts that are used are completely domestic and 90% of our products are made from walnut. We source wood from all over Turkey but we obtain walnut trees mostly from Southeastern Turkey. The reason for this is that the colors and patterns in the wood are more vibrant and pronounced since the Southeastern region tends to be drier.

We provide the following example for determining the age of trees in assembled tables: the width of an assembled walnut table piece comprised of two pieces measuring 90×200 cm varies between 40 and 50cm. The average age of trees with this width is 40-60 years. In single piece products the average age of trees with a width varying between 75 and 85 cm is between 200 and 270 years. While trees with a width between 85 and 95 cm are 270 to 330 years old, trees with a width between 95 and 110 cm are 330-400 years old.
